How do you cat proof your home?
My cats are getting into everything. They're more adventuresome than my three year old. And, I'm worried that they'll get up in the kitchen cabinets and eat the ant poison. Or, end up hiding out in the closet and shredding my sweaters. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep my cats out of danger, while still giving them the freedom to roam?
Another cat question...I'm still learning....about cat food!
I prefer to give Bigguy dry cat food because I've read that it's better for their teeth and I buy the kind that is supposed to help keep them from getting "hair balls". Since he's a big shedder I'm sure he could have that problem. Once in awhile I give him half a can of canned food because I know he likes it but I've noticed that when I do his poops seem to smell a lot stronger than when he's only eating the dry food. Is this something that all cat owners know and I'm just figuring out? Does canned food make their poops smell stronger than dry food?
Any Ideas On How To Keep Outdoor Cats Safe?
June 30, 2008 a group of kids chased one of my long time outdoor cats into the road in front of an oncoming vehicle, needless to say the poor cat was struck down by the car and though the veterinarian tried her best to save my cat, I had to make the choice of humanely euthanizing him. I am still much heart broken over his death, but I also have my other outdoor cats to think about. I have a fence around my property with many no trespassing signs put all over and in view, but with this all to recent occurrence I feel this is simply is not enough to protect the life of my outdoor cats. I've thought about adopting them out to good homes, but I know that with as attached as I am to them, my heart would feel a certain kind of void, and would feel that I have given my own children away. I've racked my brain and can't come up with any other options, please can someone help me? It has to be something that is not to restrictive and will still allow my outdoor cats to have the freedom they are use to.
Do your cats want to go outside?
My Orange Cat (kitten) would love to go outside. He was born outdoors. Whenever I open the front door he is always there first to smell the outside.Once he stepped outside and I had to bring him back in.He's a male, so I've often wondered if I should just let him live outdoors as he wants. What do you think? Do cats belong inside a house? Should a cat be allowed to go outdoors? Is it safe for the cat?
