| Save money with homemade toys for your pets | | I have four parakeets, and they absolutely love tearing any toys I buy them to shreds. I've given up having anything I give them last more than a week or two, and I recently started making homemade toys for them out of used cardboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towels. I cut out the parts of the tubes that have any glue residue on them, and then snip the tubes into spirals and lace those through the bars of the cage. My birds love to try to get them off of there! I've also given them toys made of uncooked pastas and large beads, and they loved those, too.
I've also made homemade toys for my three kitties using short lengths of string and a piece of crinkled paper. They really go nuts over that, especially if I tuck a little bit of dried catnip into the middle of it. It's a great way to spend quality time playing with your pets without breaking the bank!

when it is time to wash/replace the item,is there an arguement with the pet to give it up?my female cat has an absolutely disgusting spit-matted mousie that she will not let me replace.
i tried to give her a brand new one,but she wailed and i gave it back to her, gross or not.
| | Do you play with your dog or cat? What kind of toys do you buy for your pets? | | Mine dogs like plush toys. I learn over the years that the best toys are baby toys. Toys designed for dogs are not always durable and safe, but baby toys are. Toys are expansive and no surprise, dog’s toys are more expensive that baby toys. I always buy toys for my dogs at garage sale…very often you can buy new plush baby toys for few cents. My dogs love new toys…I always buy one for each…but like little kids…they always fight for the same one…My dogs don’t play with balls, water or rubber toys.
They like cat toys and cat can’t play with her toy for long time without sharing her game..
What kind of toys do you buy for your dog or cat? Plush, water toys, rubber/latex, balls, fabric or other?

| | I Found Morgana's Stash...Again... | | Well, she's done it again!! While I was waiting for the curtains to dry I started picking up mint wrappers. Now to explain, Hubby has 4 Starlight (red and white) mints every night after dinner and he ties a little knot in each wrapper and tosses the wrapper to Morgana who loves to chase them around the room and play with them. I go through later and pick them up and toss them out...but lately I haven't seen as many...now I know why.Anyways, I was picking up the wrappers and saw one half under the couch so I pulled it out and out popped another. I tilted the couch up and guess what I found...again...Yup, a whole bunch of wrappers that she chased under the couch LOLAs you can see from the picture, she's got quite a little stash going. That isn't including all the ones I've found around the room. Petey used to stash his bones around the house and every now and then I'd come across one LOLWhat's amazing is she seems to count the wrappers every night. As soon as Hubby is done eating, she will sit and stare at him waiting for the first wrapper. He will toss it to her, she'll play with it for a few minutes and then go back to watching him. She does this for each one of the... | |
